Built for Anaheim Hills Homes
Everything up in the canyon is a grading conversation first. Hillside grading procedures, bonded slope planting and the Scenic Corridor overlay all touch what a backyard can become, and pads carved into the ridgelines often mix native cut with deep engineered fill.
Wildfire exposure is real across much of the area. We plan pool shells, retaining walls and ADU foundations around the fill line, not around a lot line.
Hillside pads carved into ridgelines, with flat frontage, a home near the street and a rear yard that drops away. Older Peralta Hills parcels are large, semi-rural and gently sloped; the newer ridge tracts are tighter with dramatic grade change.
We are a design-build team, which means the people who draw your project are the people who build it. Design, engineering, permits and construction run through one project manager and our own crews, so nothing gets lost in a handoff between a salesperson and a subcontractor. We are licensed, bonded and insured, CSLB license #1119054 .
Permits in Anaheim Hills: Anaheim Hills is part of the City of Anaheim, so residential permits are issued by the Planning and Building Department's Building Division, not by a separate city or by the county. Grading plans must comply with Anaheim Municipal Code Chapter 17.06, Grading, Excavations and Fills in Hillside Areas.
The Public Works Department's hillside grading plan procedure requires security (surety bond, letter of credit or cash deposit) and a landscape and irrigation bond covering slopes over five feet high, with a $10,000 minimum bond amount. Property east of the SR-55/SR-91 interchange and south of the railroad line, outside the Anaheim Canyon Specific Plan area, is in the Scenic Corridor (SC) Overlay Zone in Chapter 18.18 of the zoning code, which adds design and landscape standards. Portions of the canyon are mapped as Very High Fire Hazard Severity Zone.
Permit details checked September 2026 against City of Anaheim and Anaheim Municipal Code . Rules change, so we confirm them again for your parcel.

Local Conditions
What to Know in Anaheim Hills
These local conditions change the scope, the schedule and the budget.
01
Ridge and canyon pads were created with substantial engineered fill, so verifying fill depth and compaction reports before setting a shell elevation is essential to avoid redesign mid-project.
02
Descending rear slopes require top-of-slope setbacks and often engineered retaining walls before any usable flat outdoor space exists.
03
Slope planting and irrigation on graded areas is bonded and inspected, so landscape restoration is a permit obligation, not a finishing touch.
04
Canyon wind exposure and wildfire risk affect shade structure engineering, fire-pit placement and the choice of decking and cladding materials.

How We Work in Anaheim Hills
01
Site Review

You walk the whole yard in 3D, so layout and materials are settled before we build.

05
Build
Hardscape, structures, kitchen, features and lighting go in, sequenced by our own crews.

Planting & Handover
Planting, turf and final detail, then a full walkthrough of the finished yard.
Questions
What Anaheim Hills Homeowners Ask
Who issues the permits for this work in Anaheim Hills?
City of Anaheim Planning and Building Department, Building Division. Anaheim Hills is part of the City of Anaheim, so residential permits are issued by the Planning and Building Department's Building Division, not by a separate city or by the county.
We prepare the drawings, make the submittal and handle plan-check corrections ourselves, so you are not the one chasing plan check.
What makes building in Anaheim Hills different?
Hillside pads carved into ridgelines, with flat frontage, a home near the street and a rear yard that drops away. Older Peralta Hills parcels are large, semi-rural and gently sloped; the newer ridge tracts are tighter with dramatic grade change.
One local condition that shapes the work: Ridge and canyon pads were created with substantial engineered fill, so verifying fill depth and compaction reports before setting a shell elevation is essential to avoid redesign mid-project.
Which parts of Anaheim Hills do you work in?
All of it, including Anaheim Hills Estates, Peralta Hills, The Summit and Sycamore Canyon. Our crews run every job out of our Cahuenga Pass base in Los Angeles, with our own people on site.
What does a backyard or outdoor living project cost in Anaheim Hills?
Full backyard transformation: generally $50,000 to $250,000+ across Southern California. What moves it is how much hardscape is involved, whether a pool or outdoor kitchen is included, grading and retaining, and the level of lighting and planting.
We give line-item pricing after seeing the site rather than quoting a number over the phone.
How long does a backyard remodel take?
A patio and turf refresh often finishes in three to five weeks. A full transformation with hardscape, an outdoor kitchen, structures and lighting typically runs ten to sixteen weeks, and longer if a pool is part of the same phase.
Pavers or poured concrete?
Pavers cost more up front but flex with ground movement instead of cracking, and individual units can be lifted and replaced. Poured concrete is cheaper initially, but a crack means cutting out and repouring a section that rarely matches. On most Southern California soil we recommend pavers for anything you will look at every day.
Can you fix drainage at the same time?
Yes, and on most projects we insist on it. Correcting grade and adding proper drainage while the yard is already open is far cheaper than retrofitting it after new hardscape is down.
Do you handle the whole yard in one project?
Yes. Design, permits, hardscape, structures, kitchen, lighting and planting run through one team and one project manager, so nothing gets lost between trades.
