No base depth in the written scope. No mention of geotextile fabric over the subgrade, which stops fines migrating up into the base. Bedding sand quoted at two inches rather than the correct one inch of coarse sand screeded flat. No compaction described, in passes or by equipment. Edge restraint left out, which is what actually holds the field together at the perimeter. Regular play sand instead of polymeric sand in the joints. No drainage or slope stated, when a patio should shed roughly a quarter inch per foot away from the house. Demolition and export quoted as an allowance with no tonnage. And a deposit over $1,000 or 10% of the contract, whichever is less, which is not legal in California.

What is your settlement warranty in years, and does it cover lifting and resetting labour or only materials. Do you leave attic stock pavers, and how many. Who cleans the efflorescence that appears in the first season, and is that covered. Ask for two jobs older than four years. Fresh pavers all look the same; four-year-old pavers do not.
